Bolgheri Super Tuscan Wine Tour
“What is a Super Tuscan wine?” — one of the most frequently asked questions on our wine tours.
On this full-day experience, not only will you discover the answer, but you will also have the opportunity to taste the very wines that have made this category famous around the world.
With your driver, you will leave Florence behind and head towards the Tuscan coast, to Bolgheri, where these renowned Bordeaux-style wines are produced.
This area is considered the heart of the Super Tuscan wine movement, and produces some of the world’s most iconic labels, including Ornellaia, Sassicaia, Masseto, and Guado al Tasso, among many others.
The wines from this region are typically based on Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Cabernet Franc, often blended with Merlot, and occasionally Syrah or Petit Verdot, giving them exceptional elegance and silky tannins.
We suggest visiting one winery in the morning, taking a break for lunch, and then enjoying a second wine tasting in the afternoon.
The village of Bolgheri also offers several enotecas (wine shops), where you can find some of the region’s best wines, including rare vintages.
Finally, sit back and relax as you enjoy the scenic drive back to Florence (approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours).
