Chianti Wine Tour
This tour takes you through the stunning countryside between Florence and Siena, known as the Chianti region.
The landscape here is characterised by vineyards, olive groves, and rolling hills dotted with castles, Renaissance villas, and medieval towns.
After an introduction to the Italian wine classification system and an explanation of DOCG wines, Super Tuscans, and other local varieties, we will begin the tour in the delightful village of Montefioralle, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding vineyards and classic Tuscan scenery. Here you can take a short stroll through the village, admiring the views and soaking up the atmosphere.
From here, after a short drive, we will arrive in Greve in Chianti, one of the most important towns in the Chianti Classico region. In the main square you can enjoy some shopping, visit the famous family butcher shop, and admire the statue of Giovanni da Verrazzano, who was born nearby and is known for exploring the New York harbour area.
From here we will proceed to the highlight of the day — wine tasting.
In Chianti there are many wineries to choose from, including small family producers, world-famous estates, and medium-sized wine makers.
During this full-day tour, lunch can be enjoyed at a local trattoria, or even better, at a winery where you can combine the wines with traditional Tuscan food — a fantastic way to fully appreciate the experience.
After lunch we can visit another vineyard, giving you the opportunity to enjoy additional wine tastings and compare different wines before driving back to Florence.
