CHIANTI WINE TOUR

Black Vintage Swirl
DURATION: FULL DAY: 8 HOURS OR HALF DAY: 4 HOURS

This tour takes us through the stunning countryside between FLORENCE and SIENA known as CHIANTI. The landscape of this area is characterised by numerous vineyards, olive groves and rolling hills full of castles, Renaissance villas and medieval towns. The word CHIANTI possibly comes from an Etruscan family name, and indeed it was this ancient population who introduced the vine here centuries ago.

Our CHIANTI TOUR starts in the delightful village of MONTEFIORALLE, which offers amazing views of the surrounding vineyards and typical Tuscan scenery. Here we shall take a short stroll around the town, stopping to admire the famous house where AMERIGO VESPUCCI used to stay.

From here a short drive and we will be in GREVE, one of the most important towns in the famous CHIANTI CLASSICO area. Here in the main piazza you can enjoy some shopping and admire the famous statue of GIOVANNI DA VERRAZZANO, born near here and famous for discovering the Hudson Bay in New York. You will also have the chance to taste local meats, salami and cheese at a famous local butcher.

Of course no tour in Chianti would be complete without a visit to a winery and here you can choose from several in this area. Please allow us to advise you on where to enjoy your wine tasting experience, and let us know if you have any preferences or wineries that you wish to visit.

On the full day tour lunch can be enjoyed at a local trattoria or even better at one of our favourite vineyards, where you can enjoy a tour of the cellar, wine tasting and a relaxing meal sipping the famous CHIANTI CLASSICO and SUPERTUSCAN wines overlooking the famous countryside known throughout the world. Then after lunch we shall visit another vineyard, of course to give you the chance to enjoy another tour and winetasting and compare wines before driving back to Florence.
