Florence Walking Tour

This is a walking tour of the most famous monuments of the city, and if requested, a visit to the Accademia Museum to see the most famous Florentine masterpiece: Michelangelo’s David. In this museum you will also have the opportunity to study and observe other sculptures by Michelangelo, and gain an insight into the great artist’s work and philosophy.

On this longer and more extensive tour we could also visit the famous Uffizi Gallery, where you can admire masterpieces by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and many other great artists.

You may also wish to stop for lunch during the tour. With the help of your guide, you can find the perfect place to enjoy traditional Tuscan flavours, and perhaps even a gelato.

We will pass through Piazza Duomo, admiring the magnificent cathedral of Florence. Your guide will explain the importance of this religious heart of the city, including the surrounding monuments such as the Campanile (Bell Tower) and the Battistero (Baptistery).

From here we will proceed to the political heart of the city, Piazza della Signoria, winding our way through the narrow streets and alleys while retracing the footsteps of famous figures from the past such as Dante, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and Brunelleschi, to name just a few.

You will discover why Florence was one of the most important and wealthy cities of the 1300s, and exactly why the Renaissance began here. In the breathtaking Piazza della Signoria, your guide will explain the significance of the statues surrounding the square, and you will be amazed to discover that it is essentially an open-air museum, with many original works of art.

We will then continue the tour and cross one of the most famous bridges in the world, the Ponte Vecchio. Credit cards at the ready for the jewellery shops! After admiring the stunning views along the River Arno, we will also have time for a quick look from the outside at the impressive Pitti Palace, once home to the famous Medici family, former rulers of the city.

This tour involves walking through Florence’s historic centre, so comfortable footwear is recommended.

For groups larger than five guests, some museums require the use of audio headsets so everyone can hear the guide clearly. These can be arranged on request.
