FLORENCE WALKING TOUR

DURATION: 3 HOURS
This is a walking tour of the most famous monuments of the city, and if requested a visit to the Accademia museum to see the most famous Florentine masterpiece; Michelangelo’s David. Also in this museum you will have the chance to study and observe other famous sculptures by Michelangelo, and gain an insight into the great man’s work and philosophy.
From here we will walk down to visit the huge “Duomo” of Florence and your guide will give you a clear explanation of the importance of this religious heart of the city, including the other monuments here which are the “Campanile” (Bell tower) and “Battistero” (Baptistery).



Then we will travel onwards to the political heart of the city, Piazza della Signoria, winding our way through the little streets and alleys, retracing the footsteps of famous figures from the past such as DANTE, BOTTICELLI, LEONARDO DA VINCI, BRUNELLESCHI to name only a few.
You will discover just why Florence was one of the most important and richest cities of the 1300’s, and exactly why the RENAISSANCE started here. In the breathtaking Piazza della Signoria your guide will explain the importance of the statues here, and you will be amazed to find that this square is actually an open air museum, with many original pieces of art.
Then we will continue the tour and cross which has to be one of the most famous bridges in the world, the PONTE VECCHIO. Credit cards at the ready for the jewellery shopping!! After admiring the stunning views down the river Arno, we will just about have enough time to have a quick look from the outside at the impressive Pitti Palace, once home of the famous Medici family, former rulers of the city.
